The Annex Road

At 16, singer/songwriter Adam Churchwell found a new, stronger, more confident side of himself while fronting a power metal band. Though he was stronger than his former self, he was not strong enough to beat the temptations that many musicians face. Drugs and alcohol soon became the driving force behind his daily thoughts and actions.  Cocaine, lsd, and prescription pills had taken complete control by the time he was 19. In August of 2002, he found himself hospitalized for an overdose.

Adam spent the next 4 weeks self rehabilitating at his mother's home in Savage MD. "Between the panic attacks, stomach pains, and inability to do anything but sleep, I knew that I was never going back to drugs" Adam says. "I remember the first time after the overdose that I really felt clean. I had forgotten how strong emotion was." "It was nice to feel again".

For the next 7 years, Adam spent much of his time in a acoustic music project he called "As It Subsides". "It was my way to remind me where I had been and to never go back". "I hoped that others would hear my story and know they were not alone and could also fight through the dark places in their lives". He goes on to say "It took me 7 years to realize it was my crutch. I was telling people they could move on, but wasn't doing so myself".

Now at 27 years of age, Adam has begun to once again find that strength and confidence he once held in himself. He expects The Annex Road to be his best musical work to date. "I think it is the perfect name to front my current music and state of mind. My road could of been much, much shorter and these are my thoughts and feelings I am lucky enough to have on this extended path I have been given".

The Annex Road is expected to release the first single from the debut album by August and start touring this fall. You can also stay in touch with Adam on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and more.
